Karoline Leavitt Stepping Down as White House Press Secretary
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her post at the end of August. President Trump announced the move, praising her as one of the best press secretaries in history and one of his most trusted aides. She will transition to a role as a top outside adviser and influential voice in the Republican Party heading into the midterms.
Leavitt, 28 (the youngest person ever to hold the job), cited the desire to spend more time with her two young children. She gave birth to her second child in May and recently returned from maternity leave. In her statement, she called the role “the honor and adventure of a lifetime” but said she could not give both her family and the demanding job the full attention each deserves.
This is a notable personnel shift just months before the November midterms, removing one of Trump’s most visible and combative public defenders from the podium while keeping her in the broader MAGA orbit.
