County Republican Party strongly condemn the unconstitutional actions of the Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns, which led to the assault and arrest of a duly elected senator while attempting to represent his constituents in Northwest Georgia.
Speaker Burns’ actions not only demonstrated contempt towards Senator Colton Moore’s constituents, but to all Georgia voters, as well as revealing the culture of corruption and abuse of power which currently exists within the Republican leadership of the Georgia legislature.
The incredibly poor judgement of Speaker Burns brought unwanted national attention and embarrassment not only to the state of Georgia but to the Georgia Republican Party, and for this reason he should step away from the speakership if not resign altogether.
